CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

The CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide care for individuals and groups of children. Students will learn how to plan activities to facilitate children’s play, which will enable children to achieve their developmental outcomes.

Prerequisites
  • There are no academic prerequisites for this course. 


  • All prospective students are required to undertake a  comprehensive language, literacy and numeracy assessment to ensure that specific LL&N demands of the course are able to be met and if required, relevant support mechanisms are identified and in place at the time of enrolment. 


  • All employees in early childhood must hold a blue card or an  exemption card to comply with the requirements of the Working  with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 and the Child Care Act 2002.
Duration

The total course duration is dependent on a range of factors specific to each student, such as existing skills, knowledge and experience, credit transfer or recognition of prior learning and current employment. Typically the course will take 12 - 24 months. An individual Training Plan will be developed in collaboration with the student and their place of work that clearly sets out the duration and sequence of delivery to achieve the qualification. There will be 160 vocational placement hours to be completed in a regulated children’s education and care service that cares for children aged birth to 6 years.

What we do


College for Australian Early Childhood Educators will: 


  • Assign a trainer who has extensive current industry experience in  both the early childhood and training sectors.
  • Develop a training plan to suit student and employer needs.
  • Determine and assist with the individual support needs of each  student through to successful completion.
  • Provide current high-quality learning materials, ensuring there is a  good balance of both theory and practical assessments. 
  • Support the service’s supervisor in their role of supporting the  student on the job.
  • Support the student with scheduled workplace visits and on demand phone, email and student portal support.
  • Maintain records of assessments and provide progress updates to  the service.
  • Effectively coordinate scheduled workplace visits with the service  to ensure student availability and timing align with the service’s  business needs. 
  • Issue the qualification upon completion.
